Daring Bullet was a thoroughly professional winner of the Friday night feature at Shelbourne Park, the final of the February Monthly Novice ON2 525.
An impressive semi-final winner in an estimated 28.86, he was sent to traps the 5-2 second choice in the betting but it was soon clear he was going to take some stopping.
Owned by Stefanie Maguire and Michael Kennedy, the son of Callaway Pro Am and Daring Miggie was in charge from the opening stride. A couple did charge boxes but the same can’t be said for Daring Bullet.
Three lengths clear into the turn, he was always going to take some catching. The 7-4 favourite Ardrahan Aldante overcame a tardy start to go second and closed right up on the leader into the third turn but there was no room on the fence for him to squeeze through.
It mattered little as Daring Bullet kicked again off the final turn to eventually come home four lengths clear of ArdrahanAldante in 29.24 on a track rated .30 slow.
HANGRY TOO HOT TO HANDLE
Minutes later, Hangry emerged a comfortable winner of the Shelbourne Regulars A4 525 for Paul Matthews and Josie Burns.
An odds-on favourite after a superb semi-final effort, he flew into the turn after a reasonable start to assert.
It was all very straightforward for the son of Good Cody and Meenagh Miracle thereafter. He would coast home four lengths clear of Town Hoffa in 28.98.
